The day I took charge as the Chairman of Goa Forest Development Corporation, I pledged to strengthen and upscale the corporation.

One of our primary objectives is to promote ecotourism, a form of tourism that focuses on preserving the natural environment and supporting local communities. We believe that by embracing ecotourism, we can strike a harmonious balance between economic growth and environmental conservation.

To facilitate this, we have been diligently working on establishing well-equipped and sustainable ecotourism facilities across our state. These facilities aim to provide visitors with immersive experiences that connect them with nature, while ensuring minimal impact on the delicate ecosystems. Whether it’s hiking trails, birdwatching spots, or nature interpretation centers, these facilities are designed to promote education, appreciation, and preservation of our natural heritage.

Additionally, we have revamped and upgraded forest rest houses, making them more accessible and comfortable for tourists. These rest houses not only offer a tranquil and rejuvenating experience amidst nature but also generate revenue that contributes to the conservation of our forests. By staying at these rest houses, tourists actively participate in supporting our conservation efforts.

We understand the crucial role nurseries play in maintaining a healthy ecosystem and enhancing green cover. Therefore, we have established nurseries dedicated to propagating indigenous plant species. These nurseries not only provide a diverse range of saplings to support tree plantation initiatives but also serve as educational centers, promoting the importance of biodiversity and the role of plants in our ecosystem.

Our wildlife sanctuaries are precious gems that attract tourists from around the world. Recognizing their significance, we have implemented comprehensive conservation plans to protect and preserve these habitats. Strict measures are in place to ensure the well-being of our wildlife, while also allowing visitors to appreciate their beauty and learn about their conservation needs. We encourage responsible tourism practices that prioritize the welfare of our fauna and minimize disturbances to their natural habitats.

Furthermore, our tree plantation initiatives are progressing rapidly. We have set ambitious targets to increase our green cover and combat deforestation. We encourage citizens to actively participate in tree planting drives and take ownership of nurturing the saplings. By doing so, we can collectively create a greener and healthier environment for ourselves and future generations.

In our quest for sustainable tourism, we have also implemented various steps to ensure that our initiatives benefit the local communities. We strive to involve local residents in the planning, implementation, and management of tourism projects. By empowering our communities, we aim to create inclusive and equitable opportunities for everyone involved, promoting socio-economic development and preserving our cultural heritage.

I invite each and every one of you to join hands in this journey towards a more sustainable and responsible tourism paradigm. Embrace ecotourism, support our forest rest houses, visit our wildlife sanctuaries, contribute to tree plantations, and engage with our nurseries. Together, we can build a future where our natural wonders thrive, our communities prosper, and our unique identity as Goans is cherished.

Let us tread lightly on this magnificent land we call home and leave a legacy of environmental stewardship for generations to come.

Yours sincerely,
