Shri. Vishwajit P. Rane

Hon'ble Minister For Forest

Goa, with its breathtaking landscapes, lush greenery, and diverse flora and fauna, is truly a treasure that we must protect and cherish for generations to come. Our forests are not only home to a myriad of wildlife species but also play a vital role in maintaining ecological balance and providing numerous benefits to the local communities.

In recognition of the significance of forest preservation, our government has been actively implementing measures to safeguard our precious forest resources. Stringent regulations have been put in place to prevent illegal logging, encroachment, and deforestation. Additionally, awareness campaigns are being conducted to educate the public about the importance of preserving our forests and the negative consequences of their degradation.

Furthermore, tree plantation drives have been initiated across the state to restore and expand our green cover. By planting more trees, we aim to enhance biodiversity, combat climate change, and create a healthier environment for all. I encourage each and every one of you to participate in these initiatives, as your contribution, no matter how small, can make a significant impact.

While preserving our forests and nurturing our green spaces remain our top priority, we are also mindful of the importance of tourism to our economy and the livelihoods it supports. We are committed to promoting sustainable tourism practices that minimize negative impacts on our environment and local communities while maximizing the benefits for all stakeholders.

Efforts are being made to develop eco-friendly tourism infrastructure that blends harmoniously with nature and preserves the integrity of our unique landscapes. Strict regulations are in place to control pollution, manage waste, and protect our coastlines. Additionally, we are working closely with local communities to ensure they actively participate in and benefit from tourism activities.

Furthermore, initiatives are being undertaken to promote responsible tourism, which includes educating tourists about the importance of conserving our natural resources, supporting local businesses, and respecting the local culture and traditions.

However, the responsibility of preserving our forests and safeguarding our environment does not rest solely on the government’s shoulders. Each one of us has a role to play. I urge you to support these conservation efforts by practicing sustainable living, reducing your carbon footprint, and spreading awareness among your friends and family.

Let us come together as proud Goans to protect our forests, plant more trees, and promote responsible tourism. By doing so, we can ensure a greener and more prosperous future for ourselves and generations to come.
